Executive Director

Karla Horrell graduated from the University of Southern Indiana with a Management degree and three minors, Finance, Accounting and Computer Science.  Also, she has received a Certificate in Management in Rehabilitation from the University of Illinois.

Karla came to the Evansville Association for the Blind (EAB) in April 1978 and has worked in various positions in her tenure including Accountant, Controller, Director of Rehabilitation, and today, Executive Director.

Karla is extremely active in the community. Here are just a few of her community involvements:

-Ruling elder at Eastminster Presbyterian Church and chair of the Small Groups Committee

-Hixson Fellow

-Member of the USI Varsity Club Board

-Member of Evansville Downtown Kiwanis

-Member of IMA (Institute of Management Accountants)

-Member of the Evansville Philharmonic Guild

-Named USI’s 2015 Volunteer of the Year

The Evansville Association for the Blind has been helping disabled and disadvantaged persons for over 100 years. The EAB helps these people live and work in the community.  Karla feels privileged to have been able to be a part of the growth of a company that contributes so much back to the community.

EAB has been serving Evansville and the tri-state for nearly 100 years and we simply could not continue without generous benefactors like those in our community. EAB's Industrial Division secured additional work opportunities for our Industrial Division which results in additional employment opportunities for the disabled population choosing to work for their living.  Our summer was filled with a tremendous summer college program, and throughout the year we have been so blessed by so many amazing lives that touch us each and every day as we meet the individuals we have the honor of serving.  I invite you to visit us at 500 Second Avenue where I will be so happy to meet you and show you all that is happening toward fulfilling our mission to educate, employ, and empower the blind, visually impaired, and disabled.
